MinaLima celebrates the release of THE MAGIC OF MINALIMA

Join Barnes & Noble - Union Square on October 20, 2022, as we welcome MinaLima, the award-winning graphic design studio founded by Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima, to celebrate their new book THE MAGIC OF MINALIMA! Renowned for establishing the graphic style of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts film series, this duo is also known internationally for their Classics series, reimagining a growing collection of much-loved tales including Peter Pan, The Secret Garden, The Adventures of Pinocchio, and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

The duo will be in conversation with Kat Miller, MuggleNet.com's Creative Director, the co-creator and producer of Alohomora! podcast, a Protego Foundation board member, and a 16-year fandom veteran. In her Muggle life, Kat is a Massachusetts-based graphic designer and photographer.

To make this event safe and enjoyable for all attendees, please read the below guidelines ahead of buying a ticket, so you know what to expect on the day. To avoid disappointment, we must stress that there will be no access to the event for non-ticketholders.

• Barnes & Noble reserves the right to make new rules and orders in its sole discretion with regard to COVID-19 at any time and any person not abiding by the Barnes & Noble directives will be refused entrance or directed to leave the premises.

• One copy of THE MAGIC OF MINALIMA (out 9/27/22).

• Admission to the event space and signing line with Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima.

• $10 Gift Card Admission - $10.00 (Admission + one $10 B&N Gift Card): **LIMITED QUANTITY AVAILABLE**: A ticket PER PERSON includes:

• One $10 B&N Gift Card.

• Admission to the event space and signing line with Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima.

• Due to Covid-19, masks are highly recommended.

• Socially distanced photos with Mira and Eduardo will be allowed at the event.

• Mira and Eduardo will sign & personalize (name only) copies of THE MAGIC OF MINALIMA. They will also sign copies of their other books. No memorabilia or paraphernalia will be signed.

• Any gifts for the author will be collected prior to the signing line.

• Other books by MinaLima will be available for purchase at Barnes & Noble Union Square.

• Due to health and safety and space limitations, those without a ticket will not be permitted into the event space.

• Please arrive by 7 PM in order to secure your seat in the event space. Late arrivals may only have access to standing room and may not have the opportunity to meet the author.

GUIDELINES

• No memorabilia will be signed at the event.

• No large bags will be permitted into the event.

• Ticket holders will be admitted into the event beginning at 6:30 PM the day of the event. Please have a copy of your ticket available (either printed out or on your phone) for check in.

• In order to attend this event, ticket holders should:

• Have not had any contact in the last 14 days with a confirmed COVID- 19 patient.
• Not be subject to a quarantine order.
• Not traveled in the past 14 days to any state or country that New York has designated as an area requiring isolation upon returning to the state.
• At the time of the event, have not experienced in the last 72 hours any body temperature above 100 degrees Fahrenheit or any new symptoms associated with COVID-19. People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19: fever or chills; cough; shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; fatigue; muscle or body aches; headache; new loss of taste or smell; sore throat; congestion or runny nose; nausea or vomiting; and/or diarrhea..

• Due to health and safety and space limitations, those without a ticket will not be permitted into the event space.

REFUNDS

Attendees can receive refunds up to 1 day before your event start date.

If you are unable to attend the event, Barnes & Noble - Union Square will hold your book for seven days after the event. Please contact the store to arrange your pickup.

Should this event be canceled due to changing COVID-19 concerns, all customers will be refunded their ticket price to the original method of payment per Eventbrite's refund policy.

ABOUT THE MAGIC OF MINALIMA:

A full-color illustrated compendium chronicling the magical twenty-year journey of acclaimed art and design studio, MinaLima, the creative genius behind the graphics for the Harry Potter film series.

“It all started with a letter . . .”

Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima began their extraordinary partnership in 2001 when Warner Bros. invited them to realize the imaginative visual universe of the Harry Potter film series. The two artists would never have guessed that the graphic props they designed for the films—including the Hogwarts acceptance letter, Marauder’s Map, Daily Prophet newspaper, The Quibbler and Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes—would become cultural icons loved by Wizarding World fans around the world.

Eight years later, the pair formed their own design studio, MinaLima, and expanded their work to include the graphics for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter—Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade at Universal Orlando Resort and the Fantastic Beasts film series. To showcase their treasury of designs, the studio has opened House of MinaLima, its immersive art galleries and shops in London and across the world.

The Magic of MinaLima is an illustrated history and celebration of Mina and Lima’s twenty-year evolution and groundbreaking vision. Their wondrous creations illuminate the Wizarding World as never before, and their commentary offers insights into the imaginative thinking that shaped their designs.
