Saturday Spotlight Series: Jim Murphy and Bernard Brown

We are pleased to introduce our new Saturday Spotlight Series at the Center City Barnes and Noble! This is a new event series focused on celebrating Philadelphia's amazing community of local authors with signings and meet-and-greets each Saturday at the Center City Barnes and Noble. Stop by the store, chat with the authors, and pick up a signed edition of their book!

Our 3pm Saturday Spotlight on August 19th is a Philly double header, and we're thrilled to welcome Jim Murphy, author of Real Philly History, Real Fast, and Bernard Brown, author of Exploring Philly Nature, into the store! These two Philly-centric books provide a niche look into our amazing city for locals and tourists alike.

Real Philly History, Real Fast: Fascinating Facts and Interesting Oddities about the City's Heroes and Historic Sights provides an original tour of the city, with each chapter providing a pithy story about a historical person or site, along with bullet points featuring interesting oddities, and nearby attractions along with fun facts. 

Designed for kids, Exploring Philly Nature: A Guide for All Seasons dives into Philadelphia's natural world, from the birds chirping in the trees to the flowers growing in the city parks. The illustrated volume contains 52 activities from birding to bug hunting. If you or your kids are looking to explore the urban jungle, this is a must read!
