Danny and Shannon live with an abusive father in Cape May and must fight for everything they need to stay alive. The story presents a contrast between the Culligans’ life and that of their rich, Philadelphia socialite friends, Jenny Martin and her cousin, Hugh Callaway. Their lives are riddled with lies and deception but also with love and the heartbreak that can come with it.
Thicker Than Water is very historically accurate. The author’s attention to detail is wonderful. You will find yourself walking the streets of Cape May in the 1918 era. Many of the events in the book parallel those of today making the book even more relevant.
I loved reading the book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading historical fiction. Well done!
