About this Event

We have a panel!!!! We will be lucky enough to have 4 authors in store, signing copies of their books PLUS answering your questions.

Authors are:

Lori Rader-Day (she/her) is the Edgar Award-nominated and Agatha, Anthony, and Mary Higgins Clark award-winning author of The Death of Us, Death at Greenway, The Lucky One, Under a Dark Sky, and others. Lori lives in Chicago, where she co-chairs the crime fiction readers’ event Midwest Mystery Conference and teaches creative writing at Northwestern University. Her next novel features a character who will make you love Patsy Cline.

Susanna Calkins, a historian and educator, writes the award-winning Lucy Campion historical mysteries set in 17th century London and the Speakeasy Murders set in 1920s Chicago. Her fiction has been nominated for the Mary Higgins Clark Award, as well as the Agatha, Anthony, and the Lefty awards, and she received the Sue Feder Historical Mystery Award (Macavity) for The Masque of the Murderer. She lives outside Chicago with her husband and two sons and is an associate professor at Rosalind Franklin University.

Lina Chern is the author of Play the Fool, winner of the 2024 Mary Higgins Clark Award and nominee for the 2024 Lefty and Anthony Awards. A sequel, Tricks of Fortune, is forthcoming in 2025. Other work has appeared in The Marlboro Review, The Bellingham Review, Rhino, The Collagist, and Black Fox Literary Magazine. Lina has also written trivia questions, poetry, word puzzles for a TV game show, paranormal romances, dialogue for your favorite comic book characters, and award-winning movie reviews.

Mia P. Manansala (she/her) is a writer from Chicago who loves books, baking, and bad-ass women. She is the author of the multi-award-winning Tita Rosie’s Kitchen Mystery series and the forthcoming YA novel Death in the Cards (May 2025). She uses humor (and murder) to explore?aspects of the Filipino diaspora, queerness, and her millennial love for pop culture.
