About this Event
Alina Leticia Zárate is currently a PhD student in the Energy and Resources Group at the
University of California, Berkeley and longtime farmworker justice advocate. She began
working as an intern for the United Farm Workers of America in 2019 and, since then, has
dedicated her personal and professional career to investigating the relationship between climate
change and farm labor. She has studied agricultural adaptations and labor migrations in Chile and
Australia. A recipient of a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship, she is committed
to raising the voices of those best positioned to speak to changes in the environment and in
agriculture, recognizing their expertise and experience in a quickly changing landscape
