Book Signing with Queen LaKisha Carpenter Papoutsakis

Author Queen LaKisha Carpenter Papoutsakis will be visiting our store and signing copies of her book I Am Queen Anthology. Stop in to meet and speak with Queen Lakisha and get a copy personally signed!

LaKisha is a single mother to 4 incredibly talented and intelligent teenagers and a native of Scarsdale, NY, where she attended and graduated from Edgemont Junior- Senior High School. After high school, she played Division 1 lacrosse at Hofstra University, then Merrimack College. She has two associate's degrees in Marketing & Paralegal Studies from Westchester Community College and a bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut. Currently, she is completing her Master’s degree in Sports Leadership from Endicott College and is attending law school. LaKisha has been heavily involved in the music industry as a publisher throughout her life. She took over her father's business after her parent's death and handled the catalogs of such greats as Dizzy Gillespie, Stanley Turrentine, and Cuba Gooding Sr., to name a few, has been a voting member, Grammy Advocate and mentor of The Recording Academy, along with being a longtime member of a heavily white male organization called AIMP (Association of Independent Music Publishers) . In addition, she has continued her passion for sports by coaching her own children in lacrosse, basketball, and soccer. Currently, she serves as the founder of Worcester United Lacrosse, a non-profit lacrosse program that introduces underprivileged children to the game.

Furthermore, to continue her love for the game, she is honored to hold the position of President of the Massachusetts Chapter of USA Lacrosse, Varsity Girls and Boys High School Lacrosse Coach and when time permits, be an official. The game has given her many opportunities in life and has proved to be a valuable stepping stone for one of her children. She is now a 6th-grade Spanish teacher and faculty advisor for Latinx and African American students in a Leadership component of a statewide academic challenge among her many other endeavors, providing her with a new sense of joy and fulfillment.
